Jennifer Raju, PsyD
Licensed Psychologist
Jennifer Raju, PsyD (she/her/hers), is a licensed psychologist (PSY 35334) who works with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression and suicidality, and other mood-related concerns. Jennifer brings several years of experience across outpatient, inpatient, intensive, and multidisciplinary settings, supporting clients through a wide range of emotional and life challenges.
Jennifer is especially passionate about working with children and young adults, helping young people make sense of big emotions, overwhelming experiences, and the impact of stress, trauma, or family dynamics. She strives to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and accepted, while building emotional awareness, coping skills, and self-trust. Jennifer also works closely with families, supporting healthier communication, stronger relationships, and greater emotional connection.
Her clinical background includes extensive work with complex and developmental trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction recovery, and identity-related concerns. She also has extensive experience treating eating disorders and body image challenges, with a trauma-informed understanding that these difficulties are often tied to deeper emotional experiences, past stress or trauma, and self-worth.
Jennifer additionally specializes in South Asian (Desi) mental health and is deeply attuned to the cultural and intergenerational factors that shape emotional wellbeing. She is committed to providing culturally responsive and inclusive care, particularly for clients navigating cultural expectations, stigma, family pressures, or the desire to feel fully understood within their cultural context.
Jennifer’s approach is trauma-informed, relational, and collaborative. She believes the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change and works to meet each client with warmth, curiosity, and compassion while working with them to hold them accountable to their goals and values. Her work integrates evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness-informed practices, motivational interviewing, and relational therapy, all tailored to each client’s developmental stage, strengths, and goals.
Jennifer earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Francisco (APA-accredited), with an emphasis in Integrated Health. Her dissertation, “Social Media Use and Juvenile Incarceration: Perspectives from Mental Health Professionals and Staff of Juvenile Correctional Facilities,” explored the relationship between social media, mood disorders, and adolescent behavior. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology with a minor in Disaster Studies at the State University of New York at New Paltz, graduating with honors.
Outside the therapy room, Jennifer values connection, creativity, and community. She is an avid baker, reader and hiker. She loves a picnic in Golden Gate Park with her dog and a book on a sunny day, or trying new restaurants around the city. Additionally, she values joyful movement and loves attending the occasional yoga class or dance class.
