Gabby Finkelstein, MS, PsyD
Psychological Associate
Gabby (she/her), is a Psychological Associate (CA License Pending) working under the supervision of Joe Tarantino, PhD (CA 33972). Gabby works with children and adolescents and their families navigating mood-related concerns, anxiety, trauma, autism and neurodevelopment disorders, as well as emotion dysregulation and identity-related stressors. Gabby brings clinical experience across private practice, outpatient, inpatient, and community mental health settings, as well as experience in psychological assessment, working with a range of complex clinical presentations. She completed her internship at Mount Sinai Morningside & West in New York, where she provided individual, group, and family therapy within a comprehensive DBT-A program and an intensive day treatment setting serving youth with high-risk mental health concerns and co-occurring substance use.
Gabby is passionate about helping youth understand themselves in the context of their identities. She is committed to providing culturally-attuned and inclusive care that honors who each client is. She works to create a space where clients feel safe and accepted and seeks to work closely with families as active partners in treatment, recognizing them as central to a client's growth and wellbeing.
Gabby draws flexibly from attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, CBT, DBT, and ACT. Her approach is shaped by the relationships and history each client brings with them. Her personal style is characterized by warmth and genuine curiosity, and a commitment to understanding each client's unique strengths as a foundation for meaningful change.
Gabby earned her PsyD from the PGSP–Stanford PsyD Consortium, where her training focused on child and adolescent psychology. Her dissertation, "Effects of Parent Coaching in Family-Provided Developmental Care on Parental Self-Efficacy and Parental Mental Health in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit," examined how a NICU-based parent coaching intervention affected parental self-efficacy and mental health outcomes for parents of preterm infants.
Originally from the East Coast, Gabby now calls San Francisco home. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, picnics in the park, and exploring new cafes around the city.
